WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE PREVIOUS SECRETARY OF STATE
The current Secretary of State’s performance has been severely criticized for failing to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Notably, they provided the federal government with the voter’s list that had been requested by the Department of Justice under the administration of President Trump. As the administrator, the primary duty of this position is to oversee compliance and identify errors before the federal transmission of voter information. Regrettably, this oversight extended to the registration details of voters, which constitutes a violation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
Furthermore, the Secretary of State failed to comply with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) regulations. By neglecting to file the financial statements within the prescribed timeframe, they have imposed an undue burden on businesses, as mandated by law. This situation has a detrimental impact on numerous businesses and serves as a significant obstacle that should not have occurred. Our businesses play a crucial role in driving the economy, both locally and through interstate commerce.
As a scientist, I rely on observation as my primary tool for analysis. Over the years, I have observed a concerning pattern emerging in the political landscape. Current state and federal legislators appear to be gradually eroding the constitution and our fundamental rights. It is evident that my competitors will likely adopt similar practices, prioritizing party control over the well-being of the citizens. This disregard for the power vested in us by the electoral process is a cause for grave concern.
I will diligently endeavor to safeguard your rights both within our jurisdiction and with the federal government, even if it necessitates my presence at Capitol Hill or the United States Supreme Court. I will collaborate with the State Attorney General and our state and federal legislators to ensure the protection of these rights. Donate below to help me do that.
We need someone who understands the state’s rights in elections and the voters’ rights to free elections.
THE NATIONAL REGISTRATION VOTING ACT OF 1993 AND DOUBLE TAXATION
The National Registration Voting Act of 1993 and Double Taxation
Election integrity is of utmost significance. Democracy serves as the cornerstone and foundation of our democratic republic. If state and federal governments are permitted to encroach upon their boundaries, the right to vote will continue to diminish. South Dakota adheres to the United States Constitution, necessitating the safeguarding of these constitutional rights.
The National Registration Act of 1993 explicitly stipulates that only American citizens are eligible to vote in federal elections. The Secretary of State’s department is responsible for verifying this information, which undergoes scrutiny by our state’s auditors. The Act’s primary objective is to promote voter participation. However, recent legislative actions have made this process increasingly arduous or nearly impossible.
Polling places are experiencing a decline in their number. We have a flawed gerrymandering system that compels voters into districts that are utilized to undermine equal representation for the purpose of control.
The Act specifically emphasizes the importance of providing voters with convenient access to registration and voting. It also stipulates that registrations can be conducted at designated public places and other establishments. Minimal documentation is required for registration. Requiring more documents poses significant challenges for the elderly, disabled, women, Sovereign Nations, and other disenfranchised communities.
Double taxation occurs when individuals are required to provide an excessive amount of documentation. The cost associated with obtaining documentation is substantial, particularly when it originates from a different state or country. This imposition of an undue burden by the state and federal governments is particularly concerning, especially considering that individuals have already paid for an identification card and/or driver’s license. Furthermore, the ability to vote is a fundamental right that should not be denied.
Some individuals advocate for a one-household vote, which would effectively eliminate all voting rights and repeal the 19th Amendment. This proposal is clearly intended to undermine women’s rights.
I am committed to addressing this issue and facilitating easier access to voting locations. I am dedicated to curbing double taxation and will collaborate with our state and federal legislators to achieve these objectives.
VOTING AND THE MAILING ISSUES
On March 31st, President Trump signed an executive order that would disenfranchise more voters. This order also allows the United States Postal Service (USPS) to have voter lists that they should not have, as they are not election officials. The USPS will assign barcodes to each voter. Additionally, they will determine who receives a ballot in absentee voting. If any errors are found in the barcode, the ballots will not be sent.
Two lists will need to be filed. Envelope retention is to be kept for five years, despite federal laws stating that they should be retained for 22 months. These lists will be shared with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Social Security Administration (SSA), and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Furthermore, election officials are under duress if the federal government takes over elections. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is allowed to arrest election officials even if they follow state laws. The threat of withholding federal funds is a clear form of extortion.
President Trump has dismantled the Election Assistance Commission (EAC), which Secretaries of State rely on. This is a blatant attempt to make it more difficult for Secretaries of State to perform their duties and for the federal government to take over states’ rights to conduct their own elections.
This executive order will compromise your privacy, as it requires the collection of all your information, including your Social Security number, your address, your voting preferences, and your registration details. The federal government does not require this information unless there are legitimate reasons for doing so.
The bottom line is this: it’s a form of McCarthyism. This disenfranchises many voters, which is in opposition to the Voter Registration Act of 1993. Since Democrats are now considered terrorists, these lists can inform the federal government of who is one and retaliate against them. This can be used to remove naturalized citizens for a misdemeanor. We have seen ICE arrest and deport naturalized citizens for a speeding ticket. This sets up a tool for any party who wants a complete fascist government.
This Executive Order will be an unnecessary burden on state election officials. It will cost more to run elections and it affects budgetary bottom lines; especially when legislators have already set the budget. This is lost revenue for the states to run smoothly. One of my principles is to reduce spending.
The US Postal Service has been having budgetary problems and it has gotten worse when DeJoy took office and more so recently. Since the revamp, voters’ ballots are getting delivered late. They will also be received late in the November elections. I know it is frustrating to receive mail late, as I received a bill a month later from its send date. It will be more frustrating when your primary and general ballots are late and your vote is not counted.
I will work with our state and federal legislators to resolve this crisis. This is something we cannot stand for.
